I follow a local precious metals shop I deal with in my town, they got an ebay account. They have been posting a lot of Morgans. They posted a lot of CC Morgans tonight and a few looked off to me. I texted one of the owners who is a friend and I told him to be wary and that I needed to inspect them tomorrow.

Anyone else agree some look off? Here is the link to their store.

The sellers pictures are not so good .. not good enough to
tell much about the coins.

Looked at a 1878 CC .. and could not make out the mint mark.

It would be better to check these coins out in hand.

I hope they are not all cleaned .. and it is just the pictures.

If I had the chance to look at these coins I would check
out the 1896 O Morgan

I see many CC Morgans for sale, most if not all with rim damage and cleaning issues. I don't see any obvious counterfeits but the 89 and 93 at least would require extra scrutiny before considering a purchase. Even if all are genuine they seem too expensive given the heavy wear and problems.

Others know a lot more than me about Morgans so I won't give an opinion on that. However, they really need to learn how to take better pictures of coins if they plan on making ebay a regular place they sell coins. There is a reason GSC is so successful despite their issues. You don't have to do deceptive photography, but showing a coin off as best you can (in an honest way) is critical for ebay success.

I have told them numerous times their photographs sucked, I even offered to teach them how to take better photos.....they don't wanna listen to me, that's their problem. Thankfully I live a few minutes away and can get access to them to inspect. I find it fishy that they just all of a sudden got all of the CC Morgan's......last time they got the entire set they sent them to PCGS and they all came back fake. I agree they are asking way too much and I will tell them that....at those prices they won't sell we all know that. I'll see them this afternoon, and test them too (weight, magnet, etc.). Sadly these people don't want to take my advice I even offered my knowledge to inspect the coins for a small fee per month before they put stuff up to sell, cause all it will take is a fake coin to cause a snowball effect. Time will tell if they finally get over themselves and listen to someone who knows what they are talking about.

I agree that the photos are poor. They are taking 8 to 12 photos per coin at different coin position and angles and most of the photos are a wast of time. If they did 4 quality photos of each coin, it would save them a lot of time.

From their images I would risk buying anything from them for much over melt. Better pictures means more interest, more involvement and probably better prices.

I looked at the coins about an hour ago. I told him to send the 79cc in for grading as the G in God we trust looks like it was cast. Worst case it's a fake best case I'm proven wrong and it's real. Once again he disagreed so I guess I'm done helping them associate real from fake. Not my problem if they sell fake coins and it ruins their ebay rep. I tried. Least my opinion counts for something on here.
