Found this looking through some rolls tonight.

There are several raised lines coming off the right side of the shield near the top. You can see some of it in whole rev coin pic a well as the close-up. Are these trails?

Thers are some smaller lines as well as larger ones. Can see larger ones here. Small ones are hard to get to stand out enough to snap a picture of

Thanks again...Mont

These show the lines in question better.

This one shows the ones below the bar in the shield.

This one shows the ones above the bar better they actually go almost all the way to top of shield.

First let me say I'm no expert on die trails, but I'm used to seeing them 'trail' from specific points on the coin and not on coins that have been sprayed with a thin coat o copper. More prevail on nickels.

These look like parallel abrasions, scratches. That's a well circulated coin already.

Message to the Mint: these zincolns wear about as well as a $1 bill!!

Not trails. I think they are die gouges maybe caused by Feeder Finger Damage.

So how do we know it is Feeder Finger Damage? Note how they flow behind the shield. that tells us they are on the outside edge of the die. (all field devices are on the outside edge of the die. The devices are sunk into the die) So when something damages the fields it affects the outside part of the die. Feeder finger can scrape that area of the die while ejecting coins. Also the angle. The 45 degree angle tells us that it is feeder fingers that is damaging that area of the field. It is still minor at this point so the mint doesn't fix the die yet.

Thanks again guys! I have seen feed finger damage before as a raised "bar" going the other direction. This is the 1st time I have seen it this minor and going this direction. Again Learning One Coin at a Time.

I will be posting a 1995-D LMC later this evening. Could be a BIE or just a gas bubble in an inconvenient place. Can't tell with my bad eyes. If you have time later please check it out.
