About a year ago I decided I wanted to build a graded set equivalent to the Dansco 7070. I wanted to get an Ike for the set and found a real nice 72S Unc. From there I would need a 1976 coin and I could get creative and add a clad regular issue for good measure. That is where the type set was put on pause and I ended up putting together a basic business strike set (no varieties). I wanted the set to be unique and not limited to 1 TPG so there are coins from all 3 major TPGs. I also wanted some older style holders so there are a few in the set. The other main objective was to get the nicest coins as cheap as possible. Raw Ikes are cheap, but graded Ikes start to jump after MS64 pretty quickly. Most of the clad coins are MS65 with the silvers being MS66. I'm not done with the set and probably will upgrade a few as I find deals. I'm also going to eventually add the types (I have a nice toned 76D T1) and varieties one day.

Very very nice Nice accomplishment. I have thought about doing a slab set .... not that anyone needs a reason to get more Ike's

Very nice, AA. Which one set you back the most? The least? Just curious. I very much enjoyed assembling my graded Ike set. I've been upgrading coins here and there for a while now. It's the pride and joy of my collection. I'm hoping jbuck will also jump on the wagon. GR58- it would be nice to have you on board too. All you gotta do is take it slow and savor each step of the build.

Rer very nice. I don't know what it is but I love the Ike's. I think once me and the little one get our folders mostly placed I might move some serious focus over to them. I have 10 that I'm just holding on to to learn more before I let any go.

Wow, excellent. and I haven't forayed into the realm of slabs yet but if I did, Ikes would be my first choice.

Nice job with the set! I started my first slabbed set about 6 mos ago, Roosevelt dimes. Looking at your pictures, I think the NGC holders are the nicest. They seem to look a bit more...classy?

Wow, I love the randomness of the mixed up slab types. Makes it more real-world.

Very nice looking set, AlbumAccumulator! Quote: I'm hoping jbuck will also jump on the wagon. I have. But you knew that, right? Yes, I have decided to keep them in the slabs and get them at least 30 friends.

It certainly has me wanting to add some pieces to the one I just started. There is a coin show next month, who knows what will happen.

Thanks all! This was a really fun set that may never be fully completed. Always cool stuff out there. I think I may go the same multi-slab route with my type set.
