On the reverse, if it has stars below the eagle (think I see some), its 1917 Type 2 - 1930.
If there are not stars below the eagle, its 1916 - 1917 Type 1.

Here is the CCF page about Standing Liberty Quarters

The only dateless SLQ worth anything over melt is a 1916 and it is definitely not that. Fuzzy is right about the reverse, though there are other indicators that can tell you for sure even if the stars on the reverse are gone.

Type 2 coin that is only worth silver melt value.

Unless it has some sort of sentimental value, put it out of it's misery and let it be made into something new and shiny!

Call me crazy, but I see an 8 where the last digit of the date should be, making this coin probably a 1928. I don't think the date on a 1918 could possibly still be there at this level of wear.

I agree ... a dateless type 2 Standing Liberty quarter.

In this condition .. I would vote to have melted.

Even if it is a 1918 or 1928 the damage has been done and the coin has zero numismatic value....time to have it melted down.
Rest in Peace
