Hi
I was wondering why is it that most denominations of Canadian coins from 1968-2016 have many different varieties and errors and yet the lonely Dime has very few. Did the mint spend more time on this denomination, or have the collecting fraternity shunned this poor coin ?

I suspect this was the reason why. In all the error coins that I have dealt with, there is the least amount of love for the 10-cent series...

I'll be honest I don't much like the older 5 cents or the dimes because of their size...

It's hard for me to handle them...

i check dimes they have errors. I have found some very nice errors on them. two of my favorites. I have one that is pure black. I found in a roll from the mint. the second one looks like copper. I think they never got the nickel plating on the coin. there is doubling. slight die rotations. so yes there is errors.

What year is yours? You might be interested in this thread. My 'black beauty' is in a PCGS holder.

SPP-Ottawa thank you. I have a perfect match to yours. I got mine from colonial. I purchase a roll of all denominations in shrink wrap. that is issued by the mint. for each year as they come out. I noticed this black dime. near the other end of the roll. I saw one that looked like copper. I think it was not properly plated. so I kept them. put them in 2x2s got ridge of the rest of the coins. I wonder how many more is out there. nice find SPP-Ottawa. glad you got it certified. I am going to have to start doing that with some of my coins. I have never got one certified. thank you for sharing that link

Dimes certainly are mostly shunned by collectors. I collect them if they are errors. I even started a dime thread but it didn't get much traction. Lol.
