I think Registered and insured for full value, is actually cheaper than just First Class insured for full value. It might take longer to get there though.

Registered Mail is slower but with hand sigs required at every step, the odds of loss and dealing with insurance are miniscule. Every handler's job is on the line.

First Class is much faster, but in the unlikely event of loss, the insurance claim process can be lengthy.

Fastest is overnight Express Mail. I use this all the time without insurance, since this has to be signed for at each step as well.

I have a neighbor who is a USPS carrier, and he says that, if you fail to get a signed receipt for Registered or Express mail (it's electronic today), you're in deep do-do.
Rest in Peace

Regardless of your choice for class of mail, you MUST have signature confirmation which is a separate cost. If they paid with PP, even if you send registered and insured, the SC is a must have.

Even if you sent registered and insured if you don't have the SC PP won't consider those as proof of signature delivery.

If you send it registered it can take a very long time. Make sure you let your buyer know in advance.

Coinfrog makes a great point with overnight express. If I were the buyer I would want the coin rapidly.

If you send Registerd mail, you need to plan on a week for delivery and any time shorter is a bonus. You will also need to hand deliver package to the post office and the package needs to be brown sticker tapped wrapped. Ii will cost with insurance around $30.

DO NOT use any other service than US Registered Mail. Insure it, and get Signature on Delivery.

Registered Mail is really not 'slow', the USPS wants that liability out of their hands as fast as they can get it done.

Your buyer will understand, don't be concerned about that at all.
