Oh how I wish they'd let this set die. It's a nice looking set, but the price tag is just too much.
Quote: So what was in last years set?
There was (mercifully) no 2015 set. But if there had been one it would have likely been just like the previous years: 8 coins. (dime, half, 5 quarters, and the proof ASE).
Quote: I still do not understand this set. It offers no added value or special coins for the price.
Totally agree....
Now if they smartened up and threw in a S mint ASE it WOULD be interesting. But the history has been a silver proof set with a proof ASE added at a highly inflated price
Looking at sold listings on ebay, it appears the only year that has held its value is 2012 (first year the set was offered). The 2013 and 2014 sets can be had for well under $100 if you are patient and get in on an auction instead of a BIN.

Oh, I was starting to get excited there for a bit. Was hoping for something along the lines of a reverse proof/proof ASE.
I would like this set if the price were better, since it would prevent the doubles from buying both the clad and silver proof sets. The ASE would be a bonus.
The U.S. Mint is simply trying to see how many possible ways they can package the same coins so collectors will NEED to buy as many different "sets" as possible.
But U.S. collectors are blessed in comparison to the poor Canadian collectors. They need their own producing gold mines just to buy one of each of each different coin produced every year.

You forgot about the 3rd party graders who will mark coins as having come from particular sets after they receive them sealed.
