This past Saturday I bid on some American quarters from someone In Lonquil, Quebec and he reneged on his delivery charges, this has happened to me several times where the dealer fails to list their coins properly. Here is what I sent to ebay as they blamed me for the whole affair This persons postings listed that he gave combined shipping which after the sale ended sent a bill which included extra shipping, I questioned this and he cancelled the sale. At no time did I cancel or want to cancel I just wanted them to honor their posting. Another reason I think they were so quick to cancel the sale was that of all the American quarters that he listed that day most failed to make even bullion prices and this is why he raised the delivery charges. It is dealers like this that has driven many away from ebay and unless the company starts dealing with it they will loose even more customers. I am insulted by eBays Email making me the bad boy in all this as I did nothing wrong, just wanted a fair deal. It is time for ebay to step up and protect the buyers for once.

Did you message the seller? And what was the value of the additional charge? I'm just not yet seeing why ebay was contacted at this point. ebay's policies are generally geared to protect the buyers, however the seller is allowed to cancel the transaction at any point, if I'm remembering correctly.

sellers who offer combined shipping does not mean all other coins purchased ship free with the first.. oh noo..some charge half shipping for each after the first, some charge 1$ each after the first one..it all depends on the seller.. if it was not clear on the listing page you should have asked ..at what rate does the seller combine purchases at..now unless combined shipping was offered and then the seller charged you the same shipping for each coin purchased that would be different..

So, a good deal is fine...as long as it all goes in your direction? When things don't go your way then you get your panties in a wad? Maybe you need to ask questions about what combined shipping means BEFORE hitting the bid/buy button don't 'cha think? If you don't like what happened then it is very easy to close your ebay account and take your business elsewhere. (BTW ---Your user name here pretty much says it all!)

Maybe the sellers spider senses told him you would be a problem buyer and cut his losses because he didn't want to deal with you.

Your name being what it is probably shines light as to what the problem is. Not everyone wants to deal with people like you. The guy was losing money on this deal and you still tried to get more from him. Why not just take the deal and quit while you are ahead? The fact that you did not post the email you got from ebay tells me you might not be telling us everything we need to know. There are three sides to this story. There is yours, the seller's and ebay's. I must say that I don't find you to be very credible. I could be wrong, but something tells me that you are a bit shady. I own motels and I have learned over the years that you cannot satisfy everyone. If I feel a customer is going to be a headache, I would rather not do business with them and just move on. Some people are not worth the headaches. A person with the name of Penny Pincher probably would be one of them.

I am confused to what happened here. There seems to be missing information. Was there discounted shipping offered or did you just assume? What exactly is ebay saying you did wrong? And how is it that you were punished? Was it that you didnt pay for items you bid on? Why is everyone responding here so quick to attack assume this person did wrong? This thread seems to be hostile and unlike other ccf threads. What am I missing?

Yeah, things seem to have gone downhill quickly here. Whenever I am counting on combined shipping, I make sure I know exactly what the shipping charges are ahead of time, and if there is a doubt, I ask the seller beforehand. All I'll say is that it is curious that this has happened several times to you. Also sellers can cancel at their discretion. I would have thought that a Canadian buyer from a Canadian seller would be a smooth transaction. If possible, it would be nice to have a link to the listing.
