Looking over the herd of Buffaloes today I came across this coin. It appears to have something going on inside the Mint Mark, looks very uniform but at these sizes even chips can look pretty uniform sometimes. I tried to find it in the RPM book at the shop but there was nothing resembling this. The RPM book might be an older printing , and I don't have tons of time to research each coin while working , so here it is. If anyone has seen this in a newer RPM book, or has an opinion as to whether that is even what it is- I would appreciate it. I will look through the shop library when I get more time , but I appreciate any pushes in the right direction.

When I went to the MSNS show in Dearborn last year, I bought a couple books. Having now remembered this, I think I have found the answer to the coin in question in a Flynn and Wexler OMM and RPM book. I think you will agree that the picture below matches the coin above. The picture is taken from the Flynn / Wexler book listed as D/D/D/S OMM-004 ....We have a winner !! I really need to get a life....

Thanks Becky, the pics are way to easy though. The shop that I frequent has a nice Bausch & Lomb scope with a zoom. I just focus the stereoscope and put my digital camera to the eyepiece and Voila...super nice pics. It is an invaluable piece of equipment, and one that I must have !! It's just gonna cost me a couple months coin budget....Hmmmmm.....Better play the lottery !

What you have is exactly what is pictured in the lower photograph. The chances that position, the thing in the center of the mintmark, and the tripling of the lower serif would show up on two different dies is infinitely small. Congrats.
