I used to post quite a few pics and comments almost every day. So what happened?
Well, I used to be writing a book for another hobby. So with available time, CCF gave me a good excuse to relax and take some time off to let my mind clear from the insulator hobby and freshen my thoughts with coins (at least that's the excuse I told myself

).
Since the time after publishing, I have been going through my entire collection (which included much "accumulation" from my Grandfather) piece by piece under the microscope to search for varieties. Thankfully my Grandfather used to set aside a roll of each year and MM starting in the early 60s and going up through the 90s. So although these are just circulation and bank rolls put aside by a coin collector who went through all of them for known keys, clipped planchets, etc, there are so many more known DDOs etc. today than back then, the known collectable varieties were relatively few compared to what we know today. in fact a lot of this was before words like "Full Steps" were thought of.
But then I was interrupted from this project. My Dad asked me to go through the coins his parents had left to him. Oh no! MORE coins to go through

.
I have been living the dream of a coin collector for quite some time now in going through coin rolls that had been stowed away by my Grandparents likely in the late 50s until the 60s. Of course, the vast majority is pennies.
At present I am putting the finds into 2X2s. Of course if the find was something really big like a 1955
DDO (yeah right!), it would be almost immediately on here for my CCF family to enjoy with me.
I also found that an old 150 capacity, shaped like a small suitcase (even with handle), photographic slide tray is a perfect storage unit for 2X2 holders. Thankfully from both sides of the family, I had Grandfathers who were seriously into 35MM photography. I have three filled trays of (mostly recognized) varieties of different now waiting in the safety deposit until the entire project is done. I have a small stack of empty trays I am hoping to fill.
I am learning (and forgetting) a lot of trivial things like on 1944 wheat cents, the E in WE is comparatively lower positioned than on other dates. In fact a lot of different years have tiny quirks like this that reappear consistently on their individual letters/numbers.
Now I wish I would have been writing these things down.
I will likely be some time before I start posting regularly again. This project is very time consuming, and I cannot always last long at it. But alas! Its just one of those things I will have to endure
