I know it is not a good thing to go around faking or defacing pennies, but I do collect them out of habit when I find them. Although most just seem to be science experiments in zinc plating or similar, the ones that seem faked for a reason surely must have a good story behind them...

That is a pretty good looking fake. If it were any other date I would not look at it twice.

That is a very cool, very bold ad for forging a controversial Lincoln Cent. And from my dad's hometown no less. I suppose since at the time the mint denied making any 1943 copper cents they couldn't be prosecuted for forging actual money. I think I would have charged more, though.
