Yesterday I explored a new spot, a wooded hillside behind the public library in Port Washington, WI. My daughter works at the library and I've eyed the hill for quite some time when I take her to work.

There is a steep public stairway that goes up the hillside through a small wooded area.

I hunted for about two hours and had some good luck, at least for me. I dug up a 1964 silver Roosevelt dime, four Wheat Cents, including a 1937 and also found a medal which my other daughter, who's a wiz at Internet research, quickly identified as a 1909 patented Holy Name Society medal.

I've attached photos of my finds, the stairs and the slope of the hillside I hunted. There's also a link to an ebay listing for another example of the medal.

Always a good day digging, when you find silver.

That hillside looks like it would be to much for me.
Rest in Peace

The stairs look too much for me.

Nice finds. Looking at that medal makes me think that over 100 years ago, someone must have felt bad to have lost that. Glad it's been recovered.

Congrats, looks like a great spot, the slope looks intimidating - less hunters that way!

I'd have to tie myself to a tree to dig. How deep were these down?

Silver is always a good day.

The silver dime was about four inches down on a flat part of the path.

One of the Wheaties was sitting right on the surface on the slope. The others where three inches down on a flatter area.

I went back today for a couple of hours and had one of my best hunts ever. I'll post photos of today's finds tomorrow.

Fresh air, exercise and lost forgotten coins in Wisconsin.

Sounds like a perfect day. Nice finds!
