They can sell them until the cows come home or they sell out, whichever comes first, but they cannot strike any past Dec. 31st 2016

Quote: but they cannot strike any past Dec. 31st 2016 That is the key point. Whatever the initial striking is I bet that will be that....and the Dollar set has only two weeks before the end of the year. I just wonder how many an initial strike can be considering that it also has to go into that set. Needless to say I will be buying a few of both items...well, maybe more than a few Oh, and I would guess no HH limits also so the big boys can buy up a big portion of the mintage

I am sure that they have already been striking them for some time now, and they can get quite a few more ready in the next eight weeks. they don't have to get them all into packaging for sale, they just need to be struck. One thing it almost surely means is that the 2017 ASEs won't go on sale in January like they used to way back when. I have both the UNC ASE and the UNC Dollar Set enrolled at five of each so I don't have to remember to get my orders in (can be an issue for me these days). For those of you who aren't already enrolled, it is an easy way to get in line ahead of everyone who waits for them to go on sale to order. It is also easy to cancel your enrollment after your order ships if you want to. Enrollment orders are processed just before the coins go on sale on the website and as long as payment goes smoothly, they are also the first to ship out.

How do we know it's "burnished"? Just wondering how the US Mint is making that known as I don't see it any where on the posted page.
Thanks.

Since 2006 when they debuted, that's what the uncirculated are known as... "burnished". It describes the finish and is supposed to help distinguish them from the uncirculated bullion issues. I think lots of people would argue that it doesn't help.

To me the "W" mint mark is the only difference from the burnished and the uncurculated.
