^pretty much what dollarman said. You can't always judge a coin by the pics. In hand, it's probably got the details. It's just an awful picture and might actually cause less bidding on it.

I wouldn't pay 65 money on a coin with someone's fat thumbprint on both sides of it, regardless of rosy toning or details, but that's just me. "Possible SWL"? Sorry, but I get sick of this "it might be worth more if we can pretend it's worth more and get you to believe it too" stuff.

Same here. These pics, as shown, are surely not representative.

I would need close-up, detailed, well focused pictures when buying a coin.

Doesn't matter what grading service, ICCS, PCGS, NGC or even ACG.

I never, never buy a coin based solely on the holder's grade and I strongly suggest everyone does likewise.

Maybe the prints on the coin is what held it back from getting a higher grade?

This looks like the image is one of the older crappy PCGS "Secure" images.
You would think that the people at Torex would have organised a better image for the auction than this one.

How could it "possibly be a SWL", it either is or isn't.

I'm guessing PCGS did not designate SWL back when this was graded, but that it might be a SWL as seen in hand. So they can't really say SWL as people would assume it's written on the slab too

Terrible pictures. That would be a buy the slab not the coin. Though I have a hunch it's really nice colouring

If it was a 1951 SWL ..,..then that coin would be very tough indeed..

To appreciate that dollar properly, you have to see it in hand..

Agree Priorpence, it's like Schrodinger's
cat, alive and dead, an SWL and a FWL.
We will see when they open the box, or
post a good pic.

Sorry for sounding so negative above, but it's "possibly" Arnprior as well. Zooming in on the crappy photo I only see one waterline. But in my experience, on some coins the lines closest to the canoe can be made to disappear depending on the viewing angle.
