This coin has some interesting toning. It was in a Whitan album for many many years. Does the toning hurt the grade or value? Please let me know how you would grade. Thank you

These are highly counterfeited , so if this one is genuine there is no bad album toning . looks pleasing but I don't know what it looked like when it was first put into the album . Was it red, rd/bn ? I would grade it at AU-55/58 . won't be surprised if it slabs out as MS .

Wow, what a great coin to own. Yeah, if authentic, probably mid AU at least, maybe cleaned at some point, color looks a bit off, but might be the pic.

Interesting that as a forum we go a long time between new appearances of the 1955 DDO ... and then both of us show up on the same day with the same King of varieties example. Your coin is authentic and the limited toning does not affect the value ... please do not do anything to alter it's appearance. Grade is high AU or low MS ... impossible to say from the photos provided ... but regardless this is a valued coin. David

Smoothed, honestly, first I've heard that but looking at the toning pattern they could be correct. Do the cartwheels extend into the obverse motto fields? It could be that someone whizzed the motto, LIBERTY and date areas only to bring out the doubling better. For me, this coin is an interesting lesson!
Thanks for sharing....and....at least it's genuine!
