Good evening everyone I hope everyone is well. I came across a 1981 LMC that struck me as strange the only area that is affected by this is Liberty and the date. The letters look they have been enlarged or smashed to enlarge them. I'm sure this is PMD but just had to get some thoughts on it. Thanks everyone in advanced

it almost looks like the reverse was beat with a hammer causing the devices on the obverse to flatten and spread out.

It looks like a Dryer Coin to me.

This is what happens to a Lincoln Cent when it falls into a commercial clothes dryer tumbler. Sometime they get stuck and tumble a long time. This gives them the look of a spooned coin, one that has been tapped with a spoon. The details appear wider and smoothed over. Many times the edge will roll over the faces of the coin and give it the look of having a ring attached to it. The damage varies on how long the coin was in the dryer. They have no added collector value. http://www.lincolncentsonline.com/pmd.html

I mentioned once before about taking a coin and putting in a rock tumbler to see what the result would be. I don't have one, but hoped someone else would. I would like a set of images of Start, Then through different stages of the process. I was wondering if this might be the result. So if anyone has a rock tumbler, this project would be helpful to see how it would affect a coin. (also use some stones for the full affect)
