Hi there, I am going through my accumulation of coins seeing which ones are worth keeping.

I have come across a couple of coins I can't identify. I have checked google images and Numista but can't seem to find anything similar.

The coins are wafer thin, small like brass and have what looks like the arabic numerals for 1203 on them.

Just hoping someone can recognise them or some of the designs so I know where to start looking.

Thanks for your time.

I did have some other coins from the Ottoman Empire in the same collection so I think you may well be right.

They look very similar.

Thanks for finding those pictures, I will search around that area.

@jislizard, first welcome to CCF. Second, the thinness of these pieces and their material of construction suggests to me that they are belly-dancer tokens. You can search CCF for "belly-dancer" and see many other varieties. That said, they normally come with one or two holes in them. Perhaps these are some other type of token not meant for adornment?

I was leaning towards fakes.

Being Islamic I doubt they are jetons or gambling tokens.

I will weight them when I get a chance and also give them a rub over with some acetone to see if anything comes off.

I will have a look at the belly dancing tokens though.

Cheers and thanks for the welcome.
