One of the steps on this 2003 D nickel extends to the right beyond all the other ones.
Could someone let me know if this extended step is an error.

That maybe a die gouge on that step if it is raised. If it is incuse, then it might just be a coin scratch.

Touch your finger gently to the extension and see if feels raised or depressed.

Seems to me scraping my nail over it maybe its raised . Its very difficult to tell for sure. I need to buy a higher power magnifying glass.

As Frog suggests, you should be able to tell by lightly touching that area if it is raised or infuse.

That last pic looks like that extra long step is from a tiny die crack. That is a die state and not an error coin.

However, I've never seen a die crack like that and just for that reason, I'd keep it.
