Nice coin. Light wear, no scratches, no luster remaining. Looking at your photos, I'd say VF-20.

This is in the 'Variety & Error Forum'

Are you asking a grade on this coin or is there an error on it?

It is a variety.. A 1947. Instead of the common 47 and 47ml

A few years ago at a Torex show a Quebec collector was trying to sell a PCGS ms 65 47 Dot nickel, a perfect blast white version wanted a 1000.00 could find no takers, offered him 700 but refused, asked dealers why they didn't buy such a nice example simply put, no demand really hard variety to sell was the comments.

Gotta say they seem to sell perfectly fine when I'm selling them. Mind you they're not PCGS MS-65 which I usually find for nickels like these are overgraded.

Apitrix,

Have you tried the CCF Free Image Optimizer to eliminate the blank space around the coins in your photos?

To be honest. I post everything from my smart phone and have tried optimizing it to remove or crop. It becomes such a darn hassle and I just give up and leave it as is lol

Same here about the optimizer's cropping tool and phone.
I crop my images on a different app before optimizing them.

Once you figure out how to use the optimizer, it is much less of a hassle.

I also use a different apt to crop ... when posting from my iPad.

The better the picture you can post on CCF, the better the chance you
will get good opinions.

Like this coin ... so far the only grade opinion posted is VF. I think most
that looked at this did not know you were posting it as a dot variety.

Using my iPad and expanding .. to me it looks much better that VF.
Maybe AU or BU range. Without a better picture it is hard to tell.

To verify the coin as a dot variety .. is about impossible with these pictures.

Hoping you can get better pictures in the future.

Generally when a variety is popular, both end of the grading spectrum is very easy to sell, apparently with this one the high end has very few buyers, but that's okay collecting has to start somewhere and it in time will lead to upgrades.

GR58, what app do you use on your iPad? I would like to delve into something besides our image optimizer. I took the pictures quickly previously. I will retake them in a bit. I have been quite sick of late and haven't had much time for anything!
