Any chance you could place your personal photos and the ebay listing photos side-by-side in the same post? That would certainly help me compare the two....

They're the same. You can see the black marks match on the rims, the die crack on the left side of the coin, (I can barely make out the other two on the right side and I would recommend that you get some better photos of those), it has the same marks two marks on the neck. I'm not sure how some could say that this aren't identical. It's 100% the same coin. Keep us up to date!

Ok. Here you go. The lighting and angles are very different, but I think most of the diagnostics can be made out to identify them as the same coin. Please refer to the ebay listing posted earlier to verify.

also notice the weird shape of the grain kernels in comparison to the authentic one on the PCGS website(bottom photo).

I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. Oh, and I would put it back in the jewelry holder and take some photos too.

I've made some bad purchases in my time. I'm still all about research and asking for input before buying. It took me all of one minute to get an image from the web of a certified coin, compare it to the image you posted, and have serious doubts.

Here's the image I found.

Ok, I've been going through this guys ebay feedback... <<Edited - This is a family friendly forum>>

This guy is a total <<Edited - This is a family friendly forum>>... You are not the only one he has used the alabi "Thats not the coin I sent you, no refund" on... I have read this for 3 different feedbacks...

One customer left
NEUTRAL: Customer - "good coins... high shipping costs"
Dealer response...
NEGATIVE: Aboncom - "buyer doesn't understand ebay and shipping"

another customer left this...
NEUTRAL: Customer - "so so coins, quick shipment"
NEUTRAL: Aboncom - "SO, SO, EBAYER! PAID AOK! FAST TO GIVE NEUTRAL! BLOCKED!"

and another...
NEGATIVE: Customer - "Coins tarnished scratched poor condition Deceptive listing poor refund policy X"
NEGATIVE: Aboncom - "Ebayer poor judge of grading. Deceptive customer poor mental ability ! SMILES!"

and another...
NEGATIVE: Customer - "His shipping was more than the Idem,Did not answer email."
NEGATIVE: Aboncom - "Novice ebayer totally unreasonable please read my 300,000 ++ positive comments,"

and another...
NEGATIVE: Customer - "2 coins in "MS70 Mint Perfect Unc" set were worn, marred - not ones in picture"
Aboncom did not leave a feedback...

and another...
NEGATIVE: Customer - "Not what I bid on. Coin I received was overgraded."
Aboncom did not leave a feedback...

To me this guy looks like a total scam artist, though he might sell a lot of legitimate coins which are graded right and as described I think he uses his positive feedback to rip people off too! Once he has your cash and you have his coin he wants nothing to do with you... No refunds, he will tell you the coin isn't what he sent you...

You also have to look that 95% of his buyers have less than 100 ebay feedbacks indicating to me that they are newbies and probably new to coin collecting all together so they reply with positive feedback because they dont know any better... the ones leaving negative feedback are usually 200+ feedback...

All of my coin collector friends got me into collecting they avidly push people to get into this hobby... this guy will ruin people's perception of coin dealers and force people out of the hobby all together!

he definitely doesn't sell coins graded correctly EVER! He is one of the worst things to ever happen to coin collecting since the electronic age has made it easier for people to find coins they want for their collection. He puts his inventory into those plastic slabs and slaps a unrealistic grade on them and preys on the uninformed and has made quite a good living doing it

Thanks guys. I opened a dispute in Paypal, upgraded to a claim after the seller refused refund. They have not made a decision yet, and said they would let me know if they needed more information. I'd be more than willing to send them a letter from a dealer if necessary. It is also being looked into by ebay. What confirmed his dishonesty in my book was the feedback he had left me. He basically twisted my words around and used them against me saying, "BUYER deals in counterfeits. tried to switch coins." What I would like to see is some proof, any proof that I attempted to do this? Any kind of tracking number that shows I sent ANYTHING to aboncom? The fact that he scammed me, AND then turned things around on me to say that I'm the one dealing in counterfeits....really lit some fire under my " "....and I will go as far as I have to to get refunded. I had no previous history with this seller before this transaction.

Education along with experience will make everyone a better collector or dealer in time. This bit of education hopefully won't be too expensive, and I think all of us got some from the thread. I know that some photo programs can make layers of 2 different (photos )coins in different colors and mathematically produce a output of the differences. I just don't know how to do it. Does anyone in photoshop or such know? sure would come in handy for counterfeits or VAMs, etc.

Credit card companies and paypal like their customers to feel safe and protected against such activity. Push them to cover any loss.

I bought an Indian Head penny on ebay a few months ago that had altered color. Sadly without consulting a coin expert I sent the fraudulent coin to be graded at NGC. Expecting to see the coin grade MS65, I got it back in a body-bag saying the coin had altered color. The seller who I bought it from claimed he cannot take the coin back because it had been removed from its cardboard holder. I told the guy if he did not refund my money I would report him to the ebay fraud department. Long story short he refunded my money. I hope this helps aware all my fellow coin collectors. -PP

PP, do you have a photo of that coin? I have heard this before and wondered what color appearance would indicate recolored. I have seen copper in slabs that have been colors I was surprised at also. If the ebay photo is still available, that would do. Thanks
