apparently not convinced... here is the ebay listing. be sure to use the close-up tool. I am not really faulting them, this is America, but good God what does this say about precious metals and their market? http://www.ebay.com/itm/20172760785...www.ebay.com New message from: northernnevadacoin Top Rated Seller(13,991YellowShooting Star) Thanks for your opinion, but we are firm on the price for the time being. Sarah Lane Northern Nevada Coin (775) 222-2646 Reply Your previous message we have done business before, so no disrespect, but I would be embarrassed to put this bar up at that price. it is so wrecked any historical significance or value is pretty much gone. it is only worth now just barely beyond, and just barely, the melt value of the gold. I do realize that this is how you got it, but your price would be for one that was in good shape... not one that has been sliced, diced, cut, gouged, glued together and appears to have been dropped at 35,000 feet. you should be ashamed of yourself, this biscuit does not help your normally good reputation (at that price). I would buy it at $7,000 just for historical reasons but good God that is the ugliest and most beat up and mutilated fook ever to grace the pages of ebay I have every seen in over 14 years.. no offense, but for God's sake have some respect for yourself, your business and the precious metals market in particular.... mike Hong Kong King Fook 5 Tael Chinese Biscuit (6.01 oz) .9999 Fine Gold Bar Rare! That message comes across as extraordinarily rude...
I can having an opinion that something is overpriced, but then sending the seller a rather nasty message telling they should be 'ashamed of themselves' for listing a piece at a price you disagree with?
I don't get the point- Sending a seller a nasty message is not going to suddenly get them to sell you something at the price you feel is correct... What is point?

Heritage has 3 in nice shape which sold at $9-10,000 in 2015. Currently all of them are available as "make an offer to owner" for $12-13,000.
2x bullion seems high for a bar, but maybe this is where Northern Nevada is coming from to price a damaged one.

Thanks for the laughs I sure got a kick out of your original message to the seller. Seems like a professional reply Sarah gave you; I'm sure they can take a little ribbing in stride. But if I were serious and trying to negotiate a lower price for the bar I might go about it a different way.

I've been to Northern Nevada coins in Reno & Carson City over the years. The people I dealt with in person and over the phone were great. The location of the one you are dealing with is in Minden, NV. You might consider picking up the phone and talking to them. If nothing else, cultivate a relationship with someone there for now and in the future on these more expensive items. While I appreciate ebay I would rather buy an item from NDCC direct.

If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Insulting the seller is childish and will not get you a better price. I've never had bad dealings with NNC.
You offered $7,000 (a $2,499 lowball) and were politely declined. Move on. They are not going to drop the price $2.5k because some random person on the Internet thinks their gold bar is ugly.
You've made it quite clear to the seller that you think their gold bar is overpriced. What sense is there in continuing to harass them about it?
Let the market set the price. If it goes long enough without selling, they will have to lower the price or withdraw it from sale.

Yeah , That was a bit rude on your part . An e-bay seller can list anything they want and at any price they want . I admit sometimes I too FEEL like e-mailing a seller to tell them how ridiculous their listing or price is . But I show restraint and back off . You won't get anywhere with trashing them.

Insulting the seller and then trying to get that bar for under melt value, well lets just say I would not have been so professional or nice in a reply back.

I have to agree with what others are posting. If I got that sort of response from a potential buyer, I would block them. After reading it .. I sort of wonder why you would post that response on CCF. The seller looks like they do good business. Which would lead me to believe they know what they are doing. My guess they would have loyal customers that would pay them melt or a little over anytime they are offered it. They have it listed on ebay for what's they have research similar bars are selling for, and factoring in what fees they will have to pay. I sometimes wonder why some people feel compelled to tell others how they should do business. I am not posting this to run down the OP ... just to open the OP's eyes and others, that things look different when you are the business trying to make a living.

That you received any reply at all from the seller is a huge point in their favor.
