I found these 2 pennies and became suspicious about how clean/shiny they appear. The rest of the coins I have from those years have a patina on them. Thanks for looking, and any and all advice is greatly appreciated.Have a good one!

No, they look fine in the pictures. They may have just come off the roll.

Now if they have a sickly pink copper color like a certain 31-s that I will be returning today, then they have been dipped and are way too clean.

I do appreciate it. Since they appear to not have been cleaned,Would that add any value to them? I'm not in the market to sell,I just would like to know. Thanks again!

They look good.

In my opinion, they are worth more than a cent so keep them.

Yes agree with others that they look great. You can see where the light reflects differently off the surfaces - this is referred to often as cartwheel luster and is one of the first things to go when a coin is cleaned.

They are probably worth maybe $0.25 - $0.50 retail price.
Rest in Peace

Nice find. Glad they found a good home before they got all dinged up.

They look fine to me... I've found a good number of Lincolns from those years in BU. Even a few late date wheaties.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Nice luster and no indications of cleaning. Once you've had a little practice looking at lost of cents, you will be able to spot those that have been cleaned, or dipped, because they never, ever assume their original color. Some may use a darkening agent to make them dark again, but for the nice "shiny" cents, you can't make it look right if it's been cleaned.

Plus, the chances of finding a coin that has been cleaned in circulation is very, very small. I can only remember finding two cleaned cents in the last 300,000 or so.

Yes it would since if they were cleaned they would be worth 1 or 2 cents. Original like they are they are worth more, but probably still less than a quarter (retail). There are still plenty of uncirculated rolls of these coins available so their value is low. Rolls can be purchased for probably less than $3 each which would be 6 cents each wholesale.

It looks like you have a 1960 small date variety. There is a premium for those!
