a cent planchet would be copper colored. It looks like it was pressed in a vice, ran over with a steam roller, or put through a metal press. I think its just PMD

That makes sense but any thoughts as to why it would show up in a roll of pennies.

Yes and a cent would not fit in a dime collar but freesouvy I get quite a bit of dimes in cent rolls not sure why but seems to happen a lot-I got 3 in one roll once
