THis is a business strike of an1869 half dollar pattern. Not sure what Judd it is or if they even made any business strike half dollar patterns in this year. Sorry for the bad pictures. The coin appears to made out of nickel or copper-nickel. A client of mine wants to sell it, so any information would help. Thanks

Looks like a cast counterfeit to me.

Those grainy surfaces are a dead giveaway that this "coin" has a lot of problems....first and foremost is that it is most likely not real.

The surfaces look good that's just the copier giving it that effect. It was definitely struck and has slight doubling on all the features. Just not sure if they ever made an ms one of those. Thanks

I agree with westernsky. This a a cast counterfeit. The design is wrong for that year half dollar. The coin should be silver. (possible silver round that looks faked) Try another normal coin on your scanner. You will not see the sand cast lines on a normal coin.

I just found on PCGS web site images of the pattern coin. They are proof coins:

Your coin to me yells, fake.

The design is that of J-748 (P-831) it was made in silver, copper, aluminium, and brass. The silver, copper, and aluminum versions come with either plain or reeded edges, the brass in unique and has a reeded edge. They made several different design pattern half dollars in 1869. The image you posted though is too poor to be of any use in telling if the coin is real or not.

@52Raymo - it looks identical to the one you posted. Even has the left star very weak above the date like mine. Where did you find that one?

It's a Chinese counterfeit site. All you want for 2.02 cents apiece. Sorry for the bad news.

You're welcome. It looks like that one star fell off and just the outline was left.
