Hey all...Just came across this 1916 S Penny. Could use input on condition. It is worn but has nice color and looks very nice. Sorry for the lousy photos. I don't have a good set up.

Squeaks in to a VG-10, I'd say. That reverse "green" might be removed with a careful application of pure acetone. But you need to learn how to use it on yechy coins before you do anything with a nice coin.

At present, I'm thinking there is just enough of that corrosion to give it a details grade for environmental damage.

Nice old Lincoln Wheat cent with good eye appeal. Not sure how well the reverse would clean up or if overall condition of coin would justify purchase of acetone and verdi-care...

Search this forum for acetone and verdi-care for more details on use

I think you have a VF25 coin here. looks like a little weakness on the obverse strike but the rims, date and wheat stalks are all solid for a VF sharpness coin. if you have verdi-care or other coppers that may need cleaned up I would try that but if you dont have any it may not be worth it.

VG-10

Don't waste your time with acetone, verdigris salts are INSOLUBLE in acetone.

Lincoln's bust is a little worn but rest of obverse is nice . I'm a little concerned about the reverse corrosion not being removed enough for a real nice looking coin .
This said , I would still give it VF-25 .

I lean toward VG-10, but I suppose it might make F-12.

All in, even if it cleans up, we're talking about a coin worth $2-3.

Get some Verdi-Care , that will take a lot of that off. If you're careful not to scratch it.
