How to answer without being flippant. Yes, the 1877 Indian cent is way above good. Can you post photos of the "couple" you have in your collection? We all love seeing every 1877IHC we can.

Sorry, was it your coin moxking? I'd just clicked on it as it was ending, not a bad price IMO.

No it wasn't my coin, and perhaps I misunderstood. When you asked if this coin is good, then offered an ebay lot of an 1877 IHC, I thought you were asking if an 1877 IHC was good. Perhaps you were asking if the price was good, and to that question I'd answer that it did look high for the coin. I'd still love to see your examples as I really do enjoy seeing those beauties. I would also apologize if my assumption of what you were asking was misinterpreted.

I'm confused. Are you asking about authenticity, grade, quality, price, or something else?

I was asking about the authenticity, but after Kanga's coin, I'd be embarrassed to post my 1877.

It looks fine to me, the only problem is the overgrading.
On the obverse the "OF AMERICA" is almost completely gone. The rim, when present, is very mushy. This coin should be G details.
Rick Snow said something about overgraded 1877 IHCs hurting the market.

I agree. That coin needs a push to make Good for the sharpness grade, let alone VG. When I was kid collector in the 1960s, a properly graded 1877 Indian cent had a full "LIBERTY" in Fine. Some of the letters were weak, but they were outlined. Today that coin gets a Choice VF or even EF grade. Over grading was always a problem in the 1960s. You had to go the honest dealers for fair treatment. Today the whole grading structure has been totally watered down.

Well, I don't own an 1877 IHC, but I own many coins that are much more rare.
