I bought a 1961 D Washington quarter from good 'ole Gallery Grading Co. aka Todd Bond off of ebay probably 2 yrs ago. What a joke. The slab looks like it was made in someone's garage with plexiglass, hot glue, a jigsaw, and of course a machine to make the cheap label. The coin is obviously cleaned and probably worth about face value. At the time I bought this coin, I did read his neg feedback, and was not going to pay. I only paid to save my own feedback score, so he got me for about $17.00. Since then, I have looked for info on Gallery Grading and found nothing until I stumbled across this site. I still have the worthless slab, and wondered if anyone out there knows if this joker is still selling on ebay under any other id's.... I would like to make his ebay selling miserable for him if he is. I hate rip off artists. |

 myself for the for the harsh in the opening ok you got burn 2006! what new? sorry about being so harsh I did not notice your posting #  I hope I didn't make you mad?  we all at one have been burn on ebay  Edited by amac44

Karen....Welcome to the site.
Sorry to hear about your experience, but most will get burned at some time or another and after 2 years you should really let it go and chaulk it up as a lesson learned. Hopefully now you know what to look for when purchasing coins.

We have all been burned at least once. Personally, I have been burned twice, but I learned valuable lessons and will never make those mistakes again.
Its better to have a $17.00 mistake than a $170.00 mistake.

mistakes do happen, but if I knew something that could help you I would love to see this guy get what's coming to him...17 bucks or .17 cents... a cheat is a cheat

I bought a $150 fake 1932D quarter. Just like other members said, we all got burned once a while. It's part of the coin-collecting life.

Welcome, Karen. Truth be known, it is harder to find a educated seller (in coins) and then one that is honest, than one who has miss represented something on an item they have for sale. That is why I try very hard to stay away from ebay. Oh yea, in my opinion. Dad wants us to be safe ya know.  Jim Edited by Jim1953

we all get burned one way or the other.i got burn on some deals.had some one on ebay that didn't like what he got I left 3 messages by ebay about a refund.no response bad then he left a neg.i was a lot nicer back I gave him a neutral back with a heads up to other ebay sellers. |

Jim, an educated seller isn't always best... I love getting a rare VAM from some guy for only 30 dollars.  |

I understand. Read my two posts about the $3 gold piece I bought and the 1899 micro-O morgan. This was within the last several weeks. I've been learning a lot....unfortunately the hard way.

Yep I bought one of his quarters too. The slab job is a cheap do it yourself type of thing, and of course there is virtually no info to be found on the grading company. I am sorry to hear about your loss...mine was luckily only $5 as I think other buyers saw right through his b.s. and stayed away. I wish I had too.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM.Just forget it. As already said if you use ebay often enough it will happen. Just be happy your experience was for only a few dollars. There are those that have been taken for thousands. Did you notice at the far left it said 0 posts? Might be my computer.

I have a lot of reservations on ebay........haven't jumped into that world yet and I'm reluctant to do so. It's SO important to educate yourself first before purchasing things to reduce (but not elimanate) the chances of getting ripped off. I've been told that there are quite a few ways to make the safest/best possible purchases from ebay. There are many members here who live and breathe this hobby from ebay and can certainly give you the proper "Do's & Don'ts" ........ |
