I saw 1915 D Standing Liberty quarters being sold at the Denver coin expo a month and a half ago, so I wouldn't be too skeptical about it.

He made 144 proof like Indian 1910-D Fantasy overstrikes in 2014 along with 132 satin finish and 156 "orange peel texture."

Yep. I know a collector who loves Dan Carr pieces. Here's another one of his pieces that I owned.

Oh I know he makes a 1910-D Indian Head cent but this one doesn't look anything like the real Daniel Carr over strike.

The MM looks terrible, I sent a note to Dan to look at it. Wouldn't be the first counterfeit of his I've found.

Yeah I did a little Google investigating and found people are faking his work. I had no idea until I saw this ebay listing today. I guess I should have titled this counterfeit of a fantasy coin.

Wow. Counterfeit of a fantasy perhaps more correct.

Firstly, I am wondering just why this thread is in the "US Classic Coins" area of the Forum The D Carr fantasies are NOT Classic coins, they are barely legal copies. Secondly, If it is considered to be legal for D.Carr to produce these then why all the hue and cry when someone else makes them

Secondly, If it is considered to be legal for D.Carr to produce these then why all the hue and cry when someone else makes them I'm not sure when fraud became okay? Daniel Carr is making an item with zero misrepresentations. I get some people feel it is against the Hobby Protection Act, but ignore that for a second. If someone is making an item and claiming it to be a legitimate D Carr item, that's the textbook definition of fraud. That's very different than what D Carr is doing (regardless of your opinion of what he does, he definitely isn't committing fraud). I get your point on the forum, but given these fantasy tokens are meant to represent classic coins, it makes some sense why the thread was made here.

My point is that D Carr is stealing someone else's designs to produce these Tokens in the first place So there cannot be any copyright/counterfeiting issues with these other offerings.
These are Tokens and NOT classic coins and they have absolutely NO place in this part of the forum. Period.

I have to admit that the way these other tokens are being marketed is fraudulent But the token itself "apparently" isn't breaking any rules.
