Here's an 1876 1 cent with an obverse that looks to me like a C1a. Experts please help with this one.

Not really an expert but going
by the bustline, that is a C1.
I don't believe that there was a C1a in 1876.

Ok Thanks. There is definitely a gap between the bust and the beads when looking at it in hand. The tip of the bust must be wore off. C1 it is.

All the circulation strikes were C1. Two specimen strikes in C1A, one struck in copper-nickel and one struck in bronze are known.

And, as Bosox above says, all the regular circ strikes were Obv 1's. The specimen strikes (and Bosox has at least one) were 1A and also had no H mintmark on the Reverse.

Actually, the 1876 with no H were all C1A, with maybe about 6-10 struck. I was referring to the 1876-H specimens. I know of the two mentioned above with obverse C1A. I own an 1876 no H specimen, and the bronze 1876-H specimen in C1A. The copper nickel in C1A is in the collection of the American Numismatic Society.
