to the forum!

The dime looks like it may be an off center strike. The cent could be damage, not sure.

Plating can be partial, partially removed, altered or damaged to remove it. That is why we need to see a closer view to see what is going on with your cent.

If you crop out all the background and leave only the coin in the picture, it is much easier for us to see.

your cent in my opinion IS NOT damaged..appears to be a damaged planchet before strike..note the weak strike opposite to the planchet damage..this is a result of a lack of pressure during the strike due to a lack of metal.

please keep the cent away from the elements..something secure, dry and airtight..the zinc exposed on it can begin rotting quite easily and it will be ruined.

I think I agree with dollarman. The copper/zinc line runs through the shield corner and "OF" but the details don't seem to be affected. Could the planchet have been punched near the edge of a sheet where the plating ended and the metal thinned?

I concur. Both are errors. The cent is very nice. While I am out of touch with the prices of this type of error, it would definitely be worth selling.

I'm still waiting to see what it looks like up close first, before I give an answer.
