I do kind of like the idea of a minor one-year change to commemorate the mint's anniversary, but it will make the Ps harder to differentiate from the Ds. Without a mintmark, the occasional Philly coin really jumps out.

I was looking for this thread when I posted to another about the 2017-P penny. I got my first 2017 coin (the penny) yesterday at a movie theater in Virginia (outside of Washington DC). It was part of my change for a small popcorn. I'm just excited for the first 2017 coin of the year for me.

Looks odd, the 7 seems to extend well below the line of the other numbers. Almost looks like the entire 7 is low. It doesn't seem to reach the same line as the top of the other numbers.

To me it looks like the top of the zero and the seven are in line and lower than the line formed by the tops of the two and one. I agree, that the seven extends way down below the line formed by the bottom of the two, zero, and one.

Seems consistent with other pics I've seen on the net. Although I agree the 7 does look "funny". Note: this is not mine, I found this random photo online for comparison purposes.
