Now that it has hit 12:00 am where I live meaning it is officially midnight I would like to start the thread where we report finding 2017 dated coins in circulation. As it is Jan. 1 2017 it is possible though unlikely that any will be gotten today. When I did this type of thread last year I could not foresee how popular it would be. That thread had over 19,000 views and over 200 comments. Here's hoping for a thread just as popular.

I suspect that 2017 production will begin on Monday. It'll take a bit for the first production lot to make it to a bank, but the closer one of us is to a release point, the sooner we'll see first reports here.

When was the first sighting for 2016? I'm guessing it will be near February before we see more than a trickle of coins and cents will be the first.

My understanding is that they often start striking coins late in the year previous to the date, so there may already be 2017 coins produced.
I usually start seeing them in late February or in March, I always save the first of each denomination I find in circulation.

They typically first appear at the FUN and They will be here locally by the 19th. As far as coins in circulation I haven't seen 2015 dimes yet and I've on;y seen one 2016 nickel. I probably won't see my first circulating 2017 coin til maybe August. |

The earliest I've ever seen a current year coin in change was on the 20th of January, and that was in 1977 when I was in San Jose.
I've been in Tucson for several years, and I don't think we'll see any until late March.

I'll be in Las Vegas the 2nd and 4th weeks of January. The new issues seem to turn up there early in the year.
