1854B (Rouen Mint) 10 centimes from France:  History hasn't always been kind to Napoleon III. But during his reign he did ensure that a full range of gold, silver and bronze coins were issued. Between 1800 and 1852, very few low denomination coins had been minted, so the old revolutionary-era coppers were in awful condition. It was also during his reign that the French railroad network evolved from a few isolated lines to a vast and logical system radiating from Paris - something which became the envy of many other countries. |

From the pictures ... it must not be bent to bad. I consider myself a average collector .. I don't know many average collectors that have a $3.00 gold in their collection .... ------------------- Edit ... I hit $4500 at the casino ... and have not decided what to buy yet .... I bought the $3 from online retailer. With that winning, I could have bought almost 8 at the price I paid.  |

1854 Bank of Upper Canada copper halfpenny token; minted in Birmingham, England; mintage = 1.5 million:   The 1850's and back are when worldwide large copper coins start to get very 'interesting', and the various provinces of pre-Confederation Canada certainly issued their fair share of these. I own a decent representation; unfortunately they are neither well organized, nor photographed. This thread is a good excuse to dig them out of hiding.
