Star Notes are created to replace damaged or misprinted notes and usually have no real added value. I tend to save them anyway as an oddity.

If you have an older one in clean/crisp condition you might add marginally to the overall collectors value.
Rest in Peace

Star notes with low print runs tend to have some premium value. You can look up more information about that here: http://www.uspapermoney.info/

Just select 'serial number tables' and look up your note.

Some Federal Reserve Districts have lower star note print runs than others and might be worth keeping.

Like others mentioned, condition matters.

However, there's no harm in keeping it until you find a better one. It's kind of fun to get a star note from each district or from each series. No huge premiums if any, but still fun to collect if you like them.
Rest in Peace

Nothing wrong with keeping it since it only cost you a dollar!
