Maybe some people will find this an interesting exercise.
I have been reading about the box of 20 idea and I find it fascinating. But what if we had to limit our collection to only 20 coins, what would we pick?
The rules. It has to be a realistic collection and not a fantasy collection of super rarities. If you already have a large collection which 20 would you keep? If you are just starting out and you can only buy 20, which ones would save for and buy? Any insight into why would be very interesting.

20 beautiful DMPL Morgan's is what I would do. I don't have them of course.

I would keep some of the gold quarter eagles, and the rest be silver dollars of various types.

That's a tough question -- but being an old softie I would keep the oldest coins I found in circulation when I was a kid. Those would include some Morgans,IHC's, and Walkers. Then I would keep the 1932D quarter that my husband bought for me for my birthday a few years ago.
Most of what I would keep would not be very valuable, but I love them because they got me interested in coins.

Tough variety/errors. 1955 Doubled Die Lincoln, 1972 same, 1942/1 Mercury, 3 leg Buffalo, etc.

Sorry, but the "box of 20" concept would never work for me. There are too many things that I enjoy about this hobby to be limited to 20 items.

If I had only 20 items they would be dollar/crown-sized silver coins from around the world. Seated, Trade, Morgan, Peace dollars at least and then 16 other countries' large coins.

But, for the sake of trying, I would like have two of each 40% silver IKE. Perhaps one NGC, the other PCGS. There are ten silver Ikes, so it made the choice easy, if not cheesy. Of course, reality says what I need is a box of 32.

The 1st 11 coins would be my dollar set 1795 FH 1795 Dr Bust 1796 1797 1798 sm eagle 1798 lg eagle 1799 1800 1801 1802 1803 Then for the remaining 9, I suppose I would keep type as no date set would work. I would want a proof set, 1873 1c; 2c, 3c nickel, 3c silver, nickel, Half Dime, 10c, quarter, half, Trade dollar, Seated dollar, $1 gold, $2.5 gold, $3 gold, $10 gold, $20 gold, And a full pan pac set
