I ran across this 1935 Wheat cent and noticed that it was weakly struck on the west side of the coin on both the obverse and reverse of the coin. The coin weights 2.47 grams. Tapered planchet? Still Lookin

May have been a Grease Filled Die which didn't let the planet get into all of the devices of the die. That would be my guess.

It could have been a Grease Fill example as well as a thinned planchet issue.

Coining material / strip rolled thin or uneven thickness. The latter could result in a tapered blank planchet.

Thinking the weakness is more due to the lack of material. Thanks, Doug.

Based on the significantly reduced weight, I agree that it's probably due to an uneven planchet rather than grease.
Neat coin!
