Looks like a MAD - misaligned die, maybe even the bottom of the 9 is cut off (i don't have an 82" quarter on hand to compare it to). This might bring you a bit of a premium. I think in general the 1982 & 1983 quarters are considered a tough find in good condition - so if this is a good error on top of being an 82' then that might work out nicely.

Well it looks the same as the other - just a short stub of the tail on the 9. We will have to see what our seasoned members think it is.

with CoinCents on the first one being misaligned.

The second may have taken a hit to the edge / rim by the date. Tough to tell with the single image. Thanks, Doug.

Why are the 82' and 83' Quarters sought after? Low mint numbers? Thanks.

They're tough because there were no mint sets for those dates. If you want uncirculated issues your best bets are souvenir sets from the two mints & those are pricey.

Thanks. So only uncirculated condition coins are valuable?
Rest in Peace

Some collectors will keep those dates in less than mint state, but they will probably never be worth much more than face value, at least in our lifetimes.
