We know the "bars" on the obverse are the bays from the Memorial. I'm guessing the bays on the reverse are deformed from the clash. I think maybe the chip below the date was caused by the clash too. Is that a doubled column in the ninth bay?

From the obverse picture ,I can definitely see the valleys from the reverse just in front of the chin, and above the 9. Sweet find, Congrats. Very nice looking coin!

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, that's a floating piece of Lincoln's coat. The dies were heavily polished, probably to remove evidence of the clash, and in the process the lower parts of the devices, such as the front of Lincoln's coat, were removed. That's also why the memorial is deformed.

This is an interesting piece, with prison bars and heavy polishing.

Thanks Newbie. I see what you're saying Numisma thanks. Slamnbass there's only three on the right. One is under his chin, the third goes up higher than it appears here. I didn't take the pics with the bars in mind. I was thinking dropped letter, but not thinking because dropped letters are incuse. lol When I downloaded the pics to my computer, the first thing I saw was the bars. That's when I knew it was a prisoner.
It took me 50 years to find a Bar nickel, it's a good thing these didn't come out till 1959.

Nice find CM. I only consider a prisoner cent when the bars are on both sides of Lincolns bust. With only bars on the right side,he can escape and not be a prisoner. Thus, not a prisoner cent

Nice one CM. I didn't know Lincoln was getting locked up as early as the 60's.

Bars on the right, bars on the left, it makes no difference, he can always get out the back way through the Memorial. lol
11997755, There's clashes in just about all the years. 1959 started them with the Lincoln Memorial, thankfully they are continued with the Shield cents.

The lump under the date is from an over polished die to remove a strong die clash. Note the area that is missing:

Bay #9 is an area over polished as well. Note the the columns are not straight looking. When the fields are polished, the bays will be shortened and the columns will get distorted, just like your coin. So the biggest issue is the abrasion on the die from the polishing.
