Found this among my change today, I am fairly new to coin collecting but this one caught my eye. To me it looks like it has been mistruck or something. Was wondering what other people thought?

Yes. It's a tilted partial collar. This means that part of the edge of the coin was not retained by the collar and was not imprinted with reeding.

That looks like a tilted partial collar strike to me. Nice find!

Rare enough that most people will never get one in their change in their life.

I can't remember when I started noodling, most likely 2006 when I retired, and I stopped in 2011.

I found about 13 Collar error coins in that time. Mostly 5c, from 2000-08, 3 x 10c and 1 x $2. Some of the 5c I even have multiples of.

The main thing to look for initially is whether the coin appears to be struck off centre, then check the rims.

Your 2008 10c is new to me.

That's a very beautiful coin. Well done!

To get an indication of how rare it is, keep in mind that I've noodled over $1000 worth of 10c coins and not found one. I've got a couple of 5c ones, but none from the other denominations.
