I'm seeing someone taking a really strong polishing brush to the die, personally.

I think you hit the nail on the head, Monika. It seems like a really severe case of Feeder Finger Damage, and I would keep it! You don't see many examples that extreme!

Looks like the die field was roughed up a lot on this one. Probably attacked by a polishing surface with a lot of bite and it didn't get finished correctly.
I was wondering about the marks under the date. I would like to see a closeup of that area as well?

Take him some flowers. A little reverse role play may touch his heart and you'll probably get more from him from time to time. Come on guys. Think about it? If your Wife gave you flowers once, how would you feel? Sometimes little things really do mean a lot.

The obverse looks like fading die scratches. After a die has been polished sometimes with a wire brush, some of the scratches are very tall at first. On your coin you can see the die scratches starting to fade in the open field areas. But when a die scratch is closer to a device, they stay a lot longer. When inside a device, the last even a lot longer. I was wondering what was going on there. We see less of the heavy die scratches on the coins now day on the single squeeze dies. But yours is one that doesn't follow the rule. No premium for this though. Just nice to know what happened on the die to create that.

Glad to hear that your husband is Okay, always scary when things happen out of the blue.
This is really cool - so die polishing is the culprit. Really good to know and definitely one that I would hold on to.
