I shared these in an "eye candy" thread in the Main Forum, but I wanted to share these also with my collecting neighbors in the Great White North. I absolutely love how these Canadian silver dollars tone.

One thing I'd like to ask about is the 1972 Silver SP66 dollar. I won this in an auction by Liberty Coin for $22 I noticed that the PCGS price guide has this coin in SP66 listed for $300! Either I got a very good deal or the price guide is WAY off. What do you guys think?

I won the 1973 R.C.M.P. silver dollar for $23. I was very happy with that price too. I'm lovin' these coins.

All of those for $23 or just the one? Nice coins.

Sales on Heritage for the 1972 Ag SP66 would indicate the $300 PCGS value is off. The range on Heritage is $36-129, and that's mostly SP67s.

These coins are very common, and the toning as well. Because of the cases they were put in originally, the red felt type of material caused them to tone like this. The PCGS price guide of $300 is way off in my opinion. These are, again, very common as you see on ebay. Lots of people ask for crazy money but you could probably get some for around 30$ in SP66, maybe like $50-60 in SP67 if I had to guess.

Nonetheless beautiful coins and nice pick ups! Glad you are liking our silver dollars!
Rest in Peace

Although PCGS is quite high on almost all of their estimates, those are lovely coins.

I paid $22 for the '72 SP66, $23 for the '73 SP67, and $19 for the '72 PL. Thanks for your assessment, Paulsz. When I saw the $300 value my first thought was that they tacked on an extra zero.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm gonna be on the lookout for more of these. By the way, what album would you recommend if I were to start a raw set of Canadian silver dollars? Thanks.

I started off with Gardmaster albums - available by mail from Gatewest in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Collectors Supply House in Paris, Ontario. There might be someone selling them in USA.

I am liking the toning on that 1973 Silver Dollar.
Beautiful colours on the obverse, very subtle, as
compare to the multi-coloured Jackson Pollock style
reverse.

Really nice coin.

The Blue Velvet Deluxe Case put out by J&M a few years
back is sometimes found in private sales. Looks nice
full of coins.

Out of stock I think but here is a link to the webpage;

Darth: I think you did well with the coins... the value guide as mentioned before is off... but I still think you did well with the quality of coin and eye appeal.

The bottom coin looks like a nickel dollar, it appears smaller.

Silver has reverse rim beads,
nickel has reverse rim denticles.
Bottom one is Nickel PL.

Do the TPGs sometimes not indicate "Silver" or "Ag" on the holders for the specimens? Just curious; some I saw on ha.com the prices seemed kind of high for nickel versions, but I'd have to go back and look through them again.

The Gardmaster albums look very nice. I assume Dansco either has never made one or they are currently out of production. I haven't been able to find a single example, but the Gardmaster albums have a look all their own. Thanks for the information.

Of course, that blue velvet case that SilverDon linked to looks very nice as well- very regal.

If you end up with a lot of hard slabs or encase your coins in Lighthouse slabs, this Lighthouse case is nice too.
