Slabbed MS 66 Red typically sell within a $5-$15 price range.
Slabbed MS 67 Red are many, many multiples of that price. I'm only using NGC and PCGS for comparison.

Raw - you need to know how to grade and there is a pretty fine line between a 66 and 67. Paying cheap prices and hoping for the best usually results in lots of MS 62-64.

In original mint sets Gems used to account for about 4% of the date. MS-66 weren't terribly tough. An MS67 or two were seen in you had a large number of sets.

Of course that was in the old days. Now anything that's been left in the packaging is tarnished, sets are hard to find, and they are picked over a little.

Me?

I was referring to the large date. The small date was similar but about half a grade lower. Figure 5% Gem on the sm dt but these Gems were a little lower than the large date.

Yeah, , you have to know either large or small date, there is quite a bit of difference in the price.

I've always hated that coin. And I never could figure out who spent time even noticing things like that. Ever notice how many posts ask about if this is large or small date on that thing. Worst part is companies like Whitman put a spot in their Albums for both large and small dates. Makes me wish there would be an Album without things like 22PLain, 70S large and small dates, only one type of 82, etc.
