When I first got into collecting coins, my mother
send my some coins she bought on QVC or HSN
(Americana Series, I believe) as well as a
"Welcome" package from Littleton coins.
They sat in a cardboard box for years. They were
not the best examples of the coins, but it got
me thinking and I purchased the Littleton
Album to display them. It was my first experience
"cracking" the plastic cases them came in, but
good experience on inexpensive coins.

With a few purchases and a couple of upgrade
purchases (I want to get excellent examples of
each coin and began with upgrading to an
uncirculated Indian Head cent) I have completed the
album.

The Littleton Album is okay, but it does not feel
high quality. I have trouble with the slides and
the coins (especially the small dime and cents)
seem to get "lost" in the hole. But it works and
it was fun putting together.

I now want to create a 21st century Type album.

Congrats on completing your type set! The 21st century set is a fun one too, you could likely fill a lot of holes from spare change!

Post pics of your set if you can...

Just a word of caution- Littleton isn't the best place to look for good deals on coins. They're usually average coins with above average prices.

Have fun with your coins!!

Thanks. I found it enjoyable to put the set together with
"spare" change in my coin box. The Littleton coins came
from my mother. I, personally, would not go to Littleton
for coins. The ones I used were "free" from my mother.

I will try to post some pictures. This will be my first
attempt!

Nice!

Nothing wrong with free coins! I have a few sets like the ones from Littleton that my father in law bought cheap at auction and gave to me... I'll take them!

The Barber half (Liberty Head) will be one of the more expensive ones to get in MS condition in your 20th century set.

I did a 21st century US type set using 2X2 holders and a three ring binder. If you want to see what I did, go to this forum thread:

batboy, your 21st type set is nice. I would like to add the silver versions of the dime, quarter and half.

Of course, that puts it onto 2 pages. Maybe I will have to wait for the mint to produce some new types.

And batboy, this might be sacrilegious, but early 20th
century types are not my real interest (at this time),
so spending a bunch to upgrade the liberty head half is
not high on my list. Would rather get a high quality Buffalo nickel.

Cool, it's your collection, so you do what you want. That's the beauty of coin collecting.

Littleton sells conservatively graded coins at 3x the price of what they should be.

jwm!

on your first completed type set album!

I think it is extra special that you have incorporated some of the coins your mom sent you.
Makes it even more special. Very nice.

I think its funny they call the Barbers by the proper name (Liberty head), and it still says Mercury (rather than winged Liberty.)

Also, not to nitpick, but your Morgan isn't from the 20th century ;)

I have thought about getting this folder to fill, all the ones I have I'm trying to fill out of circulation.

It is funny about the "Mercury" dime. I remember how
exciting it was to get one as change as a kid. And
they were always Mercury dimes. I never knew them
by any other name at the time.

As to the Morgan, nice catch!

I was so excited to "fill a hole" in my album, I
neglected to check the date.

I purchased the Morgan and Peace dollars a while back
when silver was much cheaper as I wanted an example of
each type, not knowing where my collecting would take
me.

Now I need to check on a 20th century version of the
Morgan to really finish my first album. Thanks. Keep me
honest!
