Yep, really old coin, 193AD...oh, that's right, can't be, silly me! There's not enough left, don't think you'll even be able to tease it out with soot. Thought I saw shadow of possibly a 3, 6, or 8, but that may be just wishin'? Pix are great, nothing there. Cull jar time.

This is about the best I can get with some alterations. It looks the most like a 6, I think.

I'd guess 1936 based on the second from last pic in your original post.

Yep, that heartless owl did his work on this one. Considering the shape it's in and mint (unless that is also missing from I guess a filled die), not a big deal. It just bugs me...

If you study the shape of the threes in the dates on Lincoln cents you will discover: 1) It is definitely not a 1934. 2) It is most likely not a 1931, 1932, 1933, 1935, or 1937. 3) This leaves 1930, 1936, 1937 and 1939 as the remaining possibilities, in my opinion. I'm leaning towards 30 or 36. But is an opinion, look for yourself....

@nss-52 That's exactly why I posted it! I know I can't read the last digit but was hoping for input on other design elements of the coin that might narrow it down. Thanks. I will note, however, that the close-up is flipped/straightened from the third original pic and doesn't have a head-on perspective which may complicate the comparison chart. Still, I can use your examples compared to in-hand viewing.

Pass it off to someone making a lowball set. The lowest grade PCGS has for a 1936 wheat is 8.

I say put it on ebay as a rare 193 wheatie with a reserve of $500 and see how many bites you get! Give that owl a real sucker! Lol
