the only old loonie and toonie I got in the beginning from unc set and the old Canada Set, The only old loonie I found in my change was in 2015, and yet to see anything old toonie in my change. What happen to those loonies and toonies in mar 2012 that spilt from truck after accident where they old style or the new ones. I wish I had better than a cell phone to take photos on some of the coins I have

They changed mid year to the security style. then they produced the 2012 lucky loonie (with the new security devices) and had multiple coin exchanges to help weed out the older coinage.
As far as I remember there was no truck accident in 2012.

In the year 2012 there were huge volumes of toonies and loonies minted, although lesser of the older style.
This is the published mintage - Loonie 2012 old style - 2,414,000 Grey Cup - 5,000,000 Lucky Loonie - 5,000,000 Security Stamp - 107,105,000

I understand what you are asking about but I am as puzzled about it as you. I started collecting Loonies and Toonies in 2013 so I was scrambling to find the 2012s at that time. I did not care if they were uncirculated, I was just looking to fill some spaces. I found two or three old style Loonies in change back then and kept the best one for my book. After looking a few months for the Toonies, I just could not find one without the security marks (it has the date on top). I gave up looking and I finally went on ebay and found a mint Specimen 2012 Toonie for just under $6 including shipping so I thought that was pretty good. Since then I still have not found one in change.

There was an armoured truck that crashed up in the Kawartha's that had a large number of loonies and toonies onboard. They collected all the change using a huge truck mounted magnet and then destroyed the recovered coins.

Small correction, I think the accident was on the TransCanada near up north near Thunder Bay, there was massive old style 2012 toonies produced but not distributed all gone to the ARP bins.

I got about 6 2012 type-1 toonies from my bank a while back, they're still out there. I even found a BU one.

I was lucky to pull a roll out of circulation early. all are in good shape. I've had less luck with the loonies myself. If you want to get them maybe buy the 2012 xmas set? might be cheaper than buying individuals?

I managed to grab 5 of each off the 'bay at a hefty premium ($6 for loonie & $8 for twoonie). I was hoping to get lucky and pickup 2 rolls of each at face from a bank (1 pair for each of my sons) but the word was out and the ARP was cutting into the already low numbers.
I'm sure more than 1 person who was privy to the mintage estimates have hoards tucked away.

I found a 2012 old style Loonie when roll hunting yesterday. I usually search 15 rolls of Loonies a week and this is the first I have found in many months. There are not a lot out there in loose change any more.

Last year I found 2 and a half rolls worth of the toonies, this year, not so much as one :(

I just found an old-style 2012 toonie last week; thought for sure they were long-gone from the wild.
