Am I looking at a Lamination error of some kind? It definitely does not flake off with nail pressure...my 6 year old tried to scrape it off!%$#

Could we see a photo of the reverse too? If the metal is pushed out on the reverse, it's less likely a lamination issue.

I'll have to get when I get back to the house. I do know that it does not have anything on the back, it actually has full wheat ears-a nice back. Bear with me for a couple hours and I'll get back to you...had to run to work for a bit. Thanks.

WiFi has been out and cannot load pic of reverse. I'll send it in the morning. Sorry. It has no issues on the reverse as I look at it.

Finally have the reverse pic....not as nice a back as I thought, but no push out or damage that cause the obverse lamination issue. thanks for your patience, picture quality is not so good for the reverse, something I'll have to work on.

Is this glue on the obverse? That is what I think it is.

I thought the same when I first noticed it and will investigate further, but the way it completely changed Lincoln's profile make me believe lamination. Will check and update. Thanks.

Well, I was wrong again! The coin did have something like glue on it. The stabbing and embarrassing pains of a new coin lover strikes again.

No worries, firefly. Just keep at it! We all make mistakes when we first start out. I thought I had a doubled die.. I ended up in Coop's error files as the example of Die Deterioration (me) vs Machine Doubling vs actual doubled die of that coin.

Don't sweat the little stuff. The learning what it is of more importance. I usually help others to see what I see. I've been on the phone a lot more rather than the computer. I can't get as extensive and provide links from the phone. That is why my answers have not been as full lately.
