I picked up a bunch of cents at a local coin show this weekend, this 1888 is much shinier and kind of blueish than the rest, even ones in a similar grade. The front seems to be more well struck than most of the rest, any ideas? Is this what PVC damage looks like?

Your 1888 has been cleaned and polished, with what I'm not sure, a cleaner/wax maybe. The 1889 is more how it should look, the "patina" etc. Too bad its polished, wasn't in too bad of shape to start with, a VG or F maybe, don't know the reverse...no pix.

IMHO, your 1888 has been cleaned. As for grade, I do not agree with crazyb0, I believe it to be a VF, by quick glance.

87 and 88 both have been messed with. The 89 looks original.

I'm new to collecting, what makes you believe the 87 has been cleaned? Is there a good resource to help me identify if a coin has been cleaned or not? Some silver coins seem very obvious but some of these copper and bronze ones not so much.

It's the pinkish look, rather than brown - probably artificially re-toned. The '88 could well be EF but still a problem coin. to the CCF!

Reverse photos would have been nice . The 89 looks to be the best .

If you can show the pictures with an overhead shot would have been better. But, yes..the 88 for sure has been buffed or cleaned.
