Maybe could be just worn, since I see wear on the high points of the monument

I honestly don't think its wear fuzzy317 because the rim and the high points on the memorial would be worn down more to wear that deep on the coin face and I see flow all the way through the area but I have been wrong .

I'm not sure it's struck through because I've seen many cents from the 70's and 80's that exhibit that same weakness in the exact same area (11-12 o'clock).

I've been curious about what it is but not so much to post one yet.

Maybe just a weak strike or a tilted die?

I'm sort of ambivalent on this one. On one hand, it does look like a struck-through "something" with so much of the lettering in USA gone. However, in areas where devices are thin, it looks like PS compression and wear are responsible because we are left with bare zinc. If it was a struck-through, I would expect more copper.

I suspect that if this was a wheat or early (pre-70s) memorial, we might be quicker to jump to the conclusion that is was Struck Through Grease.

Looks like a Struck Through Grease error (widened the upper top left edge. note how the line of the top swoops upward as it get to the end on the left side) also some circulation damage has worn some areas on the cornice exposing the zinc underneath. (Also note where the struck through happened on the EPU how the devices are enlarged from the Grease Fill on the die only allowing the wider areas of those devices to show) So a Grease Fill widens the devices, not reducing them.

I did notice the upper corner swooping up and meant to also put that in the original description and it slipped my mind totally one I started uploading the images . Thanks for the replies fuzzy317, spruett001, biedercoins and coop ! I enjoy a debate on a coin like this because I learn a little more every time !
