Does anyone know the maximum amount of U.S. pennies that you can bring into Canada.

I believe you are allowed to bring up to $10,000 in foreign currency or coin into Canada without declaring it. There is technically no limit if you declare the amount over $10,000 and your reason for carrying it.
Rest in Peace

Actually, if you are bringing coins from the US into Canada, there is a different limit for 1 and 5 cent (penny and nickel) coins. For all the others (dimes, quarters, half dollars/50 cent pieces, dollar coins) the limit is $10,000. However, for 1 and 5 cent coins, as stated in Section 82.2 in this PDF document https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CFR-2...1-part82.pdf the limit is $100 and is restricted to solely educational or numismatic purposes. Meaning, you cannot show that you will be exporting the 1 and 5 cent coins to Canada for their metal value. However, silver War Nickels are exempt from this $100 restriction, as stated in section 82.3d in the document.

The US government is afraid that you might profit from the copper content of the pennies, that is why they made this special restriction. The government is selfish!

Of all the things, this is what the government is worried about.
