1970 Dime No Clad Error? - Coin Community Forum

silverfranklin Valued Member United States 64 Posts	Posted 02/16/2017 9:07 pm i have a 1970 dime that has no clad on it what so ever. it looks copper. I'm unable to post pics right now, all you would see is a copper dime anyway.. how do I know if I got the real deal. from what ive read up in it I need to weigh it, is this right. if it is can I get the weight of a 1970 dime with the clad and the weight of one with out it? Here is the CCF Coin Facts page, look down a little for the clad dime specs. Its highly likely a metal detecting find where the coin has changed color due to exposure to the environment. Try scratching off on some reeding, you may pull up some half clad color. the weight may be miniscule, wear factor involved, btw what is the wear on your coin, if it was plain copperit'd be fairly worn, also if coated, around the details/letters/date will look rounded, as if painted.
